My Father is the Gardener, Devotions in Botany and Gardening of the Bible

Author(s):Shelley S. Cramm loves to see the ancient words of Scripture come alive in today’s gardens. She is the author of devotions for God’s Word for Gardeners Bible, writes regularly for her Devotions Blog at www.GardeninDelight.com, and speaks enthusiastically to garden clubs and faith groups about plants of the Bible and how to connect garden work and harvest joys to the Word of God.

Her background includes a Master of Architecture from the University of Illinois, Chicago; work in architectural and garden design; and leadership in local Bible study, prayer groups, Toastmasters International, and GardenComm: Garden Communicators International.

Inspiration to write about plants of the Scriptures and gardening metaphor grew out of a routine of morning journaling and an enduring hope to finish housework and get out to the garden. She and her husband, Topher, have five grown children and live in Irving, Texas.

Layla Luna is an exhibiting painter with a focus on southwestern landscapes and is the author-illustrator for The Lolly Stories, a children’s series. The exploration of home, nature, and storytelling are the major components of both her painting practice and illustrations, rooted in a love for the desert, fueled by a newfound confidence to play. Her gallery of work can be found at www.laylaluna.com.

She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Texas Christian University and studied at Massey University in Wellington, New Zealand, where she earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Fine Art. Artist-in-residence programs around the country have played a large role in feeding her need to explore and create work in new environments. A Fort Worth native, Layla lives in her hometown with her husband, toddler daughter, and three pups.
