Join Texas Parks & Wildlife staff and others as they share experiences restoring the Pineywoods and improving habitat for native wildlife!
Registration for one attendee to the Pineywoods and Wildlife Landowner Field Day on Friday, May 15, 2026. Coffee, snacks, and transportation to all field sites are included with registration. Participants will depart by van shuttle from the parking lot of Mission Dolores State Historic Site (701 South Broadway St, San Augustine, TX, 75972).
Group van shuttle departure: 8:45 am
Group van shuttle return: by 12:30 pm
Field Day Activities:
- Learn about the ecological history of the Pineywoods and the stages of habitat restoration such as brush control, herbicide, thinning, and prescribed fire
- Tour active and upcoming restoration sites
- Talk with experts about improving habitat on your property
- Participants will be walking distances up to 0.10 miles over uneven terrain. Walking or hiking shoes or boots are recommended.
- POST-FIELD DAY: Lunch at Tasha's in San Augustine for those who want to continue their conversations! (Cost of lunch not included in registration. Bring your wallet!)
