About the Book
Lichen Field Guide for Oklahoma and Surrounding States provides descriptions of over 120 lichen species, using characteristics that are easy to learn and observe in the field. It suggests additional chemical tests that can be used to differentiate between similar species. It is hoped that this field guide will promote the study of lichens for academics, government officials, and amateurs.

About the Author & Cover Artist
Sheila A. Strawn is the author. Sheila Strawn holds a B.S. in Biology and a M.Ed. summa cum laude in Adult Education from the University of Central Oklahoma. Her Ph.D. is in grassland ecology from the University of Oklahoma. She edited the Oklahoma Native Plant Record from 2001 through 2017. Dr. Strawn has been a lecturer at the University of Central Oklahoma and has taught biology courses for over 30 years.
Sarah Hearn is an interdisciplinary visual artist and citizen scientist. Her practice is rooted in drawing, photography, installation, and participatory culture. Through close study of biological life and phenomena, she explores how humans can learn from and collaborate with nature. Her work calls attention to that which is often invisible at first glance.
